Who We Are

Mission: CMHDC is a non-profit real estate corporation serving the Chicago metropolitan area, dedicated to preserving affordable housing with a particular focus on emerging and changing communities. We strive to provide the highest quality affordable housing in the communities we target. Our tenants, our neighbors, and our business partners agree that we have changed people’s lives and supported urban life across Chicago.

Vision: We plan to scale and respond to Chicago’s severe affordable rental deficit of at least 160,000 units by continuing to acquire, rehabilitate, and preserve Chicago’s great older buildings.

Invest: We have invested wisely and will continue to do so; we are a good risk that benefits residents, communities, and the city at large. We continuously seek new partners to help us expand our efforts to preserve and create affordable housing opportunities in the region’s ever-changing communities.
